Young Minds, Big Ideas: VIBE Youth Launches Innovation Hubs to Tackle Poverty’s Impact

Every young person has ideas, dreams, and the potential to make a real difference but too often, the challenges of poverty, limited opportunities, and lack of support can get in the way. At VIBE Youth, we believe that young people shouldn’t just adapt to their circumstances they should lead the way in shaping their communities.

That’s why we’ve launched our Wellbeing & Innovation Project, a bold initiative funded by the Welsh Government’s Child Poverty Innovation Grant, designed to empower young people, support families, and create practical solutions to the challenges that affect daily life. We are proud to be working alongside Higher Plain Research and Education, ensuring that our approach is informed by the latest insights, evidence, and innovative practice.

What the project is about:
This project is a space where young people lead, and parents play a central role. Together, we will explore the impact of poverty on wellbeing, develop creative solutions, and turn ideas into real projects that make a difference. Young people will gain skills in leadership, problem-solving, and innovation, while parents will have opportunities to be actively involved in shaping the work through advisory groups, co-creating workshops, volunteering, or becoming VIBE Community Ambassadors.

Opportunities for involvement:

  • Parent Advisory Group: Help guide the project, ensure it meets real community needs, and shape the sessions that young people will take part in.

  • Co-Creation: Work alongside young people to design workshops and activities that explore the pressures of poverty and generate practical solutions.

  • Volunteering: Support young people as they develop projects and gain skills that will help them thrive.

  • Community Ambassadors: Champion positive change in your community and help spread the impact of the project beyond the sessions.

This is about more than just projects, it’s about real-life impact. By combining the lived experiences of young people and families with research and innovation from Higher Plain, we are creating a project that is collaborative, dynamic, and solutions-focused.

We want young people to feel empowered, to see that their voice matters, and to know that with the support of their parents and the wider community, they can lead real change. We want parents to feel included and valued, helping shape opportunities for their children while contributing to a project that benefits the whole community.
